To visitors, Lahaina Town was a place to hang out, shop, visit art galleries, and get a meal.
To locals, Lahaina town was home. It was a special place with a significant and sacred history, as it was the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom from 1802 - 1845.
On August 8, 2023, Lahaina Town was engulfed and largely destroyed by one of the largest wildfires in recent memory, forever altering the history of Maui. The town will one day be rebuilt, but the tremendous loss of that day will never be forgotten.
We’ve captured the essence of Lahaina Town in a special way, using the majestic Banyan tree as our centerpiece. We’ve carefully selected its branches and framed them to showcase some of the town’s significant landmarks.
